Wonderful ideas, a great resource

We are in a new frontier. For entrepreneurs, breaking into the medical marijuana business, and all the off-shoots and supportive businesses that dispensaries will need, is a gold mine. This is the time when new millionaires and titans of business will be born. I don't plan on being left behind. So,hence I am here writing a review for this book I bought. The field is wide open for people to fill much needed services and this book outlines 49 very lucrative business ideas, should someone take the initiative. One might say that I should now review this and just keep the ideas to myself, but I'm grateful for the time and effort, and frankly, creativity, of the author that I felt it was the right thing to do and support this book.

The book spans 49 possible business ideas, including security, real estate, marketing, fertilizers, human resources, lotions, delivery, and more. This book, quite literally, could make someone millions. I hope I don't sound like I'm over selling, but if someone did take the initiative and really ran with the ideas, there would be lots of money made.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

This book is a JOKE! If I wanted a list of dispensaries in legal states I could've found it easily through WeedMaps or some other Marijuana related app that caters to this. 58 pages of garbage information, 138 pages of dispensaries and the addresses they reside at, along with their phone #s?? R u kidding me? This book, was obviously written by someone who has absolutely no knowledge on the industry. My guess is they just started thinking Marijuana was cool about 4 years ago when it was 'legalized.' Don't waste your money on this...it's not worth the paper that it's printed on.

Jeff Lupetin Jeff Lupetin has been a national voiceover talent for over 30 years and a teacher for close to 15years. Check out his voice content on Loopytalk.com and his teacher tips on Ultimate Voiceover.com. His book, “Ultimate Voiceover” is available at Acting Studio Chicago and on Amazon as a paperback or e-book. Currently, Jeff is the new retail voice for HH Gregg furniture and appliance stores. In addition, he is a news narrator for TouchVision Tv.com. In the past, Jeff has voiced nationally for Off products and Coors Extra Gold, winning the Fairfax Cone award for excellence. His character work includes national spots for Raid as one of the infamous Raid bugs and as “I am Hungry” for McDonalds. Locally, Jeff was the Lotto Wizard for the Illinois Lottery and the voice of the “Fun for Some” campaign. Jeff has had a wide range of voice experiences and careers. Older gamers know Jeff as the voice of Gillian Seed in the Hideki Kojima video game, Snatcher. He still can be heard on the “Twilight Zone Radio Show” nationally. You may have caught him on the Oprah Winfrey Show in the 1960’s retro show, voicing and on-camera. Jeff’s career began as a children’s program announcer for WFLD-TV and WGBO-TV Super 66 in Chicago. This and his original Spoken Word material, “The Making of Dangertown” can be found on You-tube. Jeff hails from Ossining, NY and graduated from Northwestern University with a Radio-TV-Film degree. He is a Jeff Citation winner for the improvisational review, “MegaFun” with the Practical Theater company at Second City ETC.  Jeff created the Intermediate Voiceover class for ASC and is also an adjunct professor at Columbia College, teaching Voice for Animation. I Can't Recommend It Enough

Jeff Lupetin was one of my favorite professors at college with his Voice Acting For Animation class. He is such a great wealth of knowledge and experience, and this all comes forward in this extraordinary book. I can't recommend it enough, for any level of voiceover practitioners.
It recalls his own experiences, spins them for more general consumption and is encouraging and positive throughout, keeping of course firm roots in the reality of the career path that is voiceover work. It's funny, it's informative, it's in-depth in all of the things it touches on, this is absolutely one of the best books on the subject that I've ever come across and I'm honored to be able to learn from Jeff yet again from this book.

Smart and enjoyable

Smart and enjoyable. I was referred to this book by one of his students and I was not disappointed at all. It's very helpful and illustrates the harder trials of breaking out without being intimidating and instead very encouraging. A terrific and recommendable read.

Too "in-depth". Not easy to read but packaged with good TSQL info. Not for the newbie.

I just went yesterday to a famous bookstore here in town to check this one before order it online and left a bit disappointed, with no desire at all to buy it. Don't get me wrong, Itzik is an awesome writer, a genius on his field, but I do not share the previous 5 start opinions and I will explain why.

I do not consider myself an TSQL expert but got some SQL DBA years on my belt and a MCTS cert too. Having said that and after almost finish reading Microsoft SQL Server 2008 T-SQL Fundamentals (PRO-Developer), same author, I found this one very difficult to follow, flooded with tons of theory and math that for a TSQL book is in my opinion too much. Yes, SQL language has strong logic and math background but that is not what DBAs or developers are looking on a technical book and this is not a college book either; people are looking for practical books which can be quickly be applied on daily job activities.

Chapter #2 for example is full of logic and math stuff that I honestly skipped immediately. Nice as bonus information but not "straight to the point" T-SQL stuff. You can easily take that chapter out and keep the book lighter in my honest opinion. Same for Chapter#3, more logic and math stuff, related to T-SQL, yes, but no the real stuff.

Chapter 1, 7 and 10 are taken of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 T-SQL Fundamentals (PRO-Developer), which by the way, is an outstanding book. Those chapters are about SELECT, JOINS and DML, information that like I said, can be found on the Fundamentals book but in an easy to read style, even with exercises so you can evaluate your own skills.

Chapter #4 is probably the more interesting chapter of the whole book, is about query performance. I must accept Itzik dominates the material but introduces so many complex query concepts and statements that you will get lost in no time. He even mentions he wasn't so sure about where to put this chapter, end of beginning, because the way he's using complex DMVs. But I believe you still can explain query performance without being so technical. This chapter is just full of complex query techniques that make even more complex the explanation of performance tuning strategies. I prefer SQL Server 2008 Query Performance Tuning Distilled by Grant Fritchey; a book just dedicated for that topic but delightful and easy to follow, without being a "dummy book".

In order to be fair and make justice though, the book is really full of theory about logical query processing, set theory and algorithms, foundations of what SQL language is. If you have a really strong background of TSQL query (I mean, really strong TSQL skills), math and the enough time to digest and understand that, this book is for you.

But to me, this book can be out of your book shelve and be easily replaced by this combo instead: SQL Server 2008 Query Performance Tuning Distilled+Microsoft SQL Server 2008 T-SQL Fundamentals (same author) Both will teach the same in a better and easy to follow approach, skipping all the logic, math and boring sql language foundation which to me, are unnecessary on this kind of books especially if you are not in college anymore, but working as a full time DBA.

I have really enjoyed this book from the begining to the end.

The new chapters from Steve and Dejan:

- Set Theory and Predicate Logic
- Algorithms and Complexity
- The Relational Model

are a very good complement. Having these topics is handy and refreshing, not to mention a must in this discipline.

Itzik's cover about the new T-SQL features introduced with SQL Server 2008, is insightful and very well guided. No doubt that he is an educator by nature.

If you are new to T-SQL, I strongly recommend that you first read Itzik's book "Microsoft� SQL Server� 2008 T-SQL Fundamentals", prior to diving into this series (T-SQL Querying and T-SQL Programming).

Expert knowledge and outstanding organization. More lucid writing needed.

Sometimes, the authors of technical books have the prerequisite expert knowledge and have an outstanding organization and game plan. But their writing is just too ambiguous. This is one of those books. The author should simply get to the point and not meander too much.

First, this book is not for the beginners. Indeed, you may not need all the knowledge contained in this book to be even intermediate DBA or DB Developer. But if you want to raise your knowledge of MS SQL to an expert level, a book like this sure helps. It is really too bad the author can't be more forthright in his writing.

Pros:
1)Expert in how MS SQL processes transactions.
2)Outstanding organization.
3)Comprehensive explanation of T-SQL.
4)If you want to understanding SQL performance tuning, this book is a must.

Cons:
1)Not for the beginners.
2)Writing could be far more lucid.

Really great book but....there are a few issues

For years I heard how this was _the_ book to buy if you were into Elizabethan costuming and wanted authentic items that could be documented. The book is good for that, and I enjoyed the style that Ms.Arnold wrote it in.
But I have two major gripes with the book-both regarding the quality of graphics and images in it.
First off-in the whole book there are only about 5 pages in color. The rest of it-including hundreds of portraits, examples of extant clothing pieces and pieces of embroidery were all in black and white. I complain about that because, with so many of the portraits quoted as examples it would help if they could be seen clearly. (Many of them are too dark to have reproduced well, and a few are quite horrible.) And the photographs....
If they could reprint this book and possibly include more color plates it would be a much much more valuable resource. As it stands now, it is a good source, but not all that I could have hoped for. Instead I have begun a search for color reproductions of the portraits cited in the book. A long tedious job but one that I think over all will make it a much more solid resource for my needs.

Such An Amazing Resource!

For the historical costumer focused on 16th century clothing, this is the "bible" hands down. Big, expensive, and filled with the usual detail that is the hallmark of Janet Arnold, this is one very worthwhile investment for the serious costumer. This book has one tiny drawback, in that it focuses entirely on women's fashion in the 16th century as viewed through the wardrobe accounts of Queen Elizabeth I and some of her contemporaries. Therefore, it has nothing to say on the topic of men's clothing, which is an unfortunately neglected aspect of 16th century research.
Much of Janet Arnold's most important contributions to the costuming community are addressed in this book, making it extremely valuable. She presents each section with satisfying detail, raising very few questions that remain unanswered. The photographs accompanying the text are also invaluable, as many of them are not available in other books or to the general public for viewing. If only there were more color images...
If you can afford the book, you won't regret buying it.

The Best source for the Wardrobe of Elizabeth 1st

This book is amazing. Huge, and packed full of information. An essential refernce work if you are seriously considering doing anything with elizabethan fashion. The author has poured years of scholarship into this work and it shows. It's not really a coffee table picture book. Instead it is full of carefully culled facts for the serious student or anybody curious about 'real' English Tudor costume.
